FAQ

How do I join?

There is no formal application processjust show up to any meeting to learn about human rights and have a discussion with peers!

When and where are the meetings?

The meeting time and location are subject to change each semester, but general meetings are typically bi-weekly. Check the semester schedule below, the GroupMe chat, or our social media accounts to stay up-to-date on our meeting schedule.

Do I need to have a specific major to join?

SHRAI is an inclusive space, open to students of all majors!

Do I need to pay membership fees to join?

We do not require membership fees.

What grade levels are able to join?

SHRAI is open to all levels of undergraduate and graduate students.

    Medical Students for Choice is hosting a fundraiser for Emma Goldman Clinic! In addition to the monologue readings, there will be drinks and other items available for purchase. Tickets are $10 at the door (doors open at 4:00 pm; speakers start at 4:30).

  • Bi-Weekly Meeting: Craft Night

    Join SHRAI for a craft night, where we will be making flyers and posters related to social justice and human rights issues. We will also hear briefly from Kalmia Strong, the Program Director at Public Space One, about the intersection of art and activism.

     

  • Bi-Weekly Meeting: Letter-Writing

    SHRAI will be holding our first letter-writing event of the academic year. While every topic is welcome, we will have a special focus on gender protections in Iowa and at the university. We will also hear from Jude Abel, a member of the Johnson County Trans Advisory Committee, about a project that students can get involved in.
